How do I calculate overtime for 45 hours at $20/hour?
40 hours at $20 = $800, plus 5 overtime hours at $30 (1.5×) = $150, for $950 gross before taxes.
Does overtime start after 8 hours a day?
Only in daily-overtime states (California, Alaska, Nevada, Colorado). Everywhere else, federal overtime starts after 40 hours in a week regardless of daily hours.
